In Room 10 we have been writing our holiday highlights. Here is one that Faioso wrote about her friends birthday party.
In the holidays Justus' mum picked me up from my house because it was Justus birthday.
Then we went to Justus house to pick up his brother in a van.
Then we went to jump because it was for Justus birthday. When we got to jump it was so amazing because it was my first time going there. Then we went inside to get our jump socks. Then we went inside to play around.
The first thing I went to was dodge ball. It was so fun because we got to jump around and throw the ball around.
After that I lift and went to the rope. The rope is so cool because we got to swing around like a monkey.
After that I went to Justus house. We had a big BBQ. It was so nice. We had lots of food. The thing that I liked the most was the sushi. I ate heaps of it.
After that we went to the pools. It was so fun because my next door neighbour was there. We played in the pool until 6.00 pm.
Then we went back to Justus house. We had a little feed. Then I went home.
At the end I ate all of the cup cakes and some of the cake. I felt so tired from that birthday.
The thing that I liked the most was everything. I hope that we can go jump again.

Problem Solving
In Class 7 Maths we have been problem solving. Here is Ava's solution.
I worked that there were 3 pigs and 8 ducks.
I first did 11 circles and then I put 2 legs on them and that made 22 legs on them.
I knew that pigs had 4 legs so I had to add 2 more legs to 3 circles.
Which made 28.

Mutton Birding
This week the Kauri have been reading a book about Muttonbirding. They did some research to find out how you get mutton birding rights and then predicted what would happen overtime with mutton birding. Here is Lorenzo's post.
In reading my reading group have been reading a book called on the island. it is about a family going mutton birding and only Maori people can hunt them you can stay for two months but you are only aloud to hunt five mutton birds.
For our reading activity we had to do what its like in 200 years in the past present and the future and imagine what we had to use.

Commonwealth Games Report
This week we have been writing reports about a commonwealth report. We had to make sure that each paragraph had a new idea. Here is TJ's post.
Super rugby sevens
What is Super rugby sevens?
Rugby sevens, also known as seven-a-side, Sevens or VIIs, is a variant of rugby union which teams are made up of seven players, instead of the usual 15, with shorter matches.
What a equipment do you need?
With a full time staff of Team Sales representatives, we have the experience and expertise to make sure you have all the rugby gear you need, when you need it, in a timely and professional manner.
How do you play?
Rugby sevens or Seven-a-side rugby as it used to be called or 7s rugby or rugby 7s !!! has become very popular over the years.
The game of Sevens is played in festival-like, knock-out type, fun-filled competitions rather than home and away fixtures like normal rugby.
How many sevens go on the field?
Only 7 go on to the field and 7 is on the side line.

World War Commemoration
Last week we had an assembly to commemorate World War One. The students wrote about the assembly and did some research about the World Wars. Here is Lorenzo's piece.
We usually don’t have assembly on Mondays but today is a special. On August the 4th 1914, that was when the World War 1 started, 100 years ago. The world war 1 has many people and countries in war. To remember the people that died in the war we should say lest we forget.
20 billion people were wounded (means that they were injured or hurt) and there were 16 million deaths, 10 million military people died and 7 million civilians.
9 of every 10 soldiers that survived the World War 1 were injured but they came back home to their loved ones.

My Titanic Explanation.
Why the Titanic sunk! Have you ever heard about the Unsinkable Ship before?
BANG!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Titanic also known as the Unsinkable Ship crashed into a massive iceberg and scraped along the side of it. This was the Luxury liners first voyage but also it’s last. A big disaster with many lives lost.
Everyone thought that the Titanic would never sink because the owners said it was the safest ship in the world. When it hit the iceberg it made big holes in the side of the ship. The bulkheads started to fill with water and the Titanic slowly began to sink.
When the Titanic started sinking the front of the ship was the first to get covered with water. It dragged the stern of the ship down but the pressure was too big and it snapped off. The stern of the Titanic bobbed up and down for a while before submerging into the icy water.
Some good things to think about the titanic. There should've been more lifeboats so all the people on the ship could survive. The captain should’ve listened to the warnings and prepared everyone earlier.

The Disaster That Shocked The World
This term we have been learning about the Titanic. This is a summary of what Amber has learnt.
In 1911 the titanic was built. It was the BIGGEST ship to EVER be built. It was bigger then a human, a car, and EVEN a airoplane, want to know why it isn’t around anymore? Well, one night the Titanic was sailing across the sea. One of the captains saw an iceberg and told the captain. He didn’t listen, so one of the captains tried to turn the ship before it went through the iceberg, but when they turned the side scraped the iceberg and sunk after one hour. In that hour they left 1114 or 1115 people left in the freezing water…. After about 30 minutes they all froze to death… They died. Did you know they didn’t put alot of people on the boats? One of the boats could fit up to 62 people but they only put 31 on. The Titanic started zooming down in the water, like a torpedo. Parts came off and now its in the freezing, cold, atlantic ocean. It’s gone forever. This is a disaster that is famous, but we will always remember the people who died on there. If you ever want to find the Titanic, I would never want to, want to know why? I think you would freeze to death, just like how everyone else did.

Badminton Recount
This term our school plays badminton
and my maths class goes to badminton every Tuesdays when we play badminton before we start playing it we warm up and play stuck in the mud.
We play stuck in the mud like about two times and.
after that we line up in two lines and get our bats and shuttles and then we get a buddy and do backhand for a while if you don’t know what backhand is it means you put your hand behind your bat and play like that.
after we finish doing that we do a challenge there is four groups and Danny will give you a number my number was 1 and there is two nets and 3 and 4 go on the other side and do the challenge and 1 and 2 go on the other side for the challenge there is one line on one side and one line on the other side and you have to keep playing and the last one standing wins.
After the challenge we all go in a circle with our bat and shuttle and Danny puts a box of shuttles in the middle of the circle and then one by one have to try and aym the shuttle and if you miss you have to do 3 laps around the hall after that we thank Danny for teaching us badminton then we go back to class.
